Can You Beat the Bookies?

The biggest question any gambler asks themselves is can they really beat the bookies? This was the subject of a recent BBC documentary by comedian Lloyd Griffith. The comedian has worked for bookmaker Ladbrokes in the past, appearing in an advertisement for their service and openly admits to having a flutter himself, so he does know a fair bit about the gambling industry. His aim in the TV show was to turn £7500 into £15000 during a four week period.

The show highlighted the darker side of gambling and during the programme, Griffith met a handful of people who had struggled to cope with their gambling problems, and online gambling was seen to be the reason for much of this, with the convenience factor it brings.

However, something else that was highlighted on the programme was the different strategies that are currently in use by those who do make gambling pay, and who do make a living from it.

This is a technique that the bookmakers are doing all they can to clamp down on, and a successful courtsiding account will not last very long, so be prepared to open up multiple accounts if you do this. The good old fashioned way of betting. Studying the form for hours until you think you have covered every possible angle. This was also shown in the programme, and the good news for those form enthusiasts is that it still looks as though it works!

If you stick to something you love and you are prepared to put the hard work in then this can be rewarded. This is the most likely way for people to make money, although it will take up a lot of your time, and test your patience and mental strength when you are going through a bad patch.
