Types of Bets Explained
Single Bet
A single bet is the simplest of them all. You bet on one outcome — if your selection wins you get a return based on the odds. Perfect for beginners or anyone looking for a straightforward bet.
Double Bet
A double bet links two separate selections into one bet. Both selections must win for the bet to be successful. If one loses the whole bet loses. Doubles have better odds than singles because the winnings from the first bet roll over onto the second.
Treble Bet
A treble involves three selections in one bet. All three must win for the bet to be successful. The returns from the first selection are used as the stake for the second and so on, multiplying the potential return.
Accumulator Bet
An accumulator (or “accas”) combines four or more selections into one bet. All selections must win for the accumulator to return a profit. This type of bet offers much higher returns due to the compounded odds.
Trixie Bet
A Trixie is 4 bets on 3 selections: 3 doubles and 1 treble. At least two must win for a return. This doesn’t include singles so it’s less risky than an accumulator but still offers good returns.
Patent Bet
A Patent is 7 bets on 3 selections: 3 singles, 3 doubles and 1 treble. It covers every outcome and guarantees a return if one selection wins. A popular choice for those who want more chances of a payout.
Yankee Bet
A Yankee is 11 bets on 4 selections: 6 doubles, 4 trebles and 1 four-fold accumulator. It doesn’t include singles so at least two must win for a return. A step up from a Patent and for experienced bettors.
Lucky 15 Bet
A Lucky 15 is 15 bets on 4 selections: 4 singles, 6 doubles, 4 trebles and 1 four-fold. It offers great coverage and a return if one selection wins. Some bookies even offer bonuses if one winner in a Lucky 15.
Canadian (Super Yankee) Bet
A Canadian bet, also known as a Super Yankee, is 26 bets on 5 selections: 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 four-folds and 1 five-fold. No singles. At least two must win for a return.
Lucky 31 Bet
A Lucky 31 is a full coverage bet with 31 bets on 5 selections: 5 singles, 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 four-folds and 1 five-fold. It’s the most coverage and gives you more chances of a return even with one winner.
Heinz Bet
A Heinz is 57 bets on 6 selections: 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 four-folds, 6 five-folds and 1 six-fold. No singles. It’s called a “Heinz” because of the famous slogan “57 varieties.”
Lucky 63 Bet
A Lucky 63 is 63 bets on 6 selections: 6 singles, 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 four-folds, 6 five-folds and 1 six-fold. With so many combinations you have plenty of chances to win especially if multiple selections win.
Super Heinz Bet
A Super Heinz is 120 bets on 7 selections: 21 doubles, 35 trebles, 35 four-folds, 21 five-folds, 7 six-folds and 1 seven-fold. For experienced punters chasing big wins.
Goliath Bet
The Goliath is the biggest of them all — 247 bets on 8 selections. Every combination of doubles to eight-fold accumulators. At least two must win for a return. High risk high reward bet.
