Gary O’Neill – 5/1

Another ex-West Ham player, Gary O’Neill, has endured a rollercoaster start to life as a manager. Tasked with keeping Bournemouth up in 2022/23, he achieved that aim, only to be immediately replaced by Andoni Iraola. Next stop, Wolves, where he earned rave reviews for his work with a limited squad in 2023/24. However, the wheels came off in 2024/25, with Wolves failing to win any of their first ten games, seeing O’Neill sacked by Christmas. O’Neill would likely be keen, but his overall body of work is yet to convince.

Sean Dyche – 12/1

Widely respected for his work during a ten-year stint at Burnley, Sean Dyche brings plenty of experience and Premier League know-how. His reputation took a slight blow courtesy of an underwhelming spell at Everton, but he would still rate a solid choice if the sole aim is survival. Whether the West Ham crowd would appreciate his pragmatic style is another question.

Michael Carrick – 14/1

At the other end of the playing-style spectrum, Michael Carrick introduced an expansive, entertaining style during his time at Middlesbrough. A failure to win promotion in three seasons ultimately cost him his job, but he remains one of the more highly regarded young English coaches in the game. Lining up 159 times for West Ham as a player, he’s available and may be a popular choice with sections of the fanbase.
