Darts PDC Home Tour Offers Sports Fans a Lifeline

There is a distinct lack of sport at the moment. Some are sitting back and enjoying time off, while other sports are thinking outside of the box in an attempt to get something together for fans.

One sport putting serious thought into their product is darts and they have come up with a novel tournament that began last weekend and takes place over the next 32 days.

The PDC Home Tour will bring together some of the very best players from the PDC circuit to go head to head against each other. Players are following government advice and social distancing rules by taking each other on over the internet from their own homes.

We have already seen current PDC World Champions Peter Wright play from his home, and many more big names are set to get involved as the tournament progresses.

For new, we are seeing round robin groups of four, with a total of six games taking place in one night to decide who wins the group. Those players will advance to the latter stages of the tournament, with more details set to be released soon.

When Do Games Take Place?

The great news for sport fans is that games in this tournament take place every day. The tournament will last for a total of 32 days, without a day off, so there is no break in the action.

Throughout the group stages, six games per night take place with the first starting at 7:30pm. Games are best of nine legs, the first to win five, so it is a relatively quick format.

It will be interesting to see how things unfold and how the shorter format and playing at home alone without an opponent affects those who are at the top of the rankings.

Can Fans Watch Live?

The great news for both fans of darts and those wanting any kind of sporting action right now is that the PDC are providing live streams for every game free of charge. All you need to do is sign up to an account on the PDC website for free and you will be able to watch the action.

This includes up to date scoreboards and an announcer who will read out the scores from each game, as well as a video watching each player of course. Whether this is from their bedroom, front room, garage or somewhere else, we have access to coverage of these players taking each other on.

A tournament like this would normally attract minimal attention from fans. However, the PDC deserve a lot of credit here for what they have done and the gap in the market they have seen.
