Sport at a Standstill with Football and Horse Racing Hit Hard

euro cup 2021 now 2021 - coronavirus

The entire sporting world has been hit hard by the Coronavirus pandemic, with many leagues and events been cancelled across the world. This has led to a lack of action to bet on for those who like a wager, with some of the most popular betting leagues and events being called off.

Euro 2021 Postponed Until 2021

The European Championships has always been in doubt since the start of this pandemic, and finally we had the news we were all expecting, Euro 2021 has been delayed. The tournament will now take place in the summer of 2021, pushing it back for an entire year.

Not only is there a doubt surrounding travel and the ability to play in 2021, but the move also allows domestic leagues the chance to end their season’s if they are able to get over the virus in their individual country. This, of course, may not happen, but one thing that will happen is that the European Championships of 2021 have now changed to Euro 2021.

Premier League Still in Doubt After April

The Premier League is officially suspended until April 3rd, with a further statement expected to come between now and the end of March to determine the next steps after that. It seems unlikely that games will be able to continue on that date, whether that is behind closed doors or not.

Questions have to be raised now as to whether the Premier League can continue this season, and if it doesn’t, what will happen in the future? It would be disappointing, but not a surprise, to see the last steps of the Premier League season fought out in courtrooms to determine the winners and losers rather than on the field.

UK Horse Racing Suspended Until End of April Including Grand National

The Grand National meeting was called off as when racing moved behind closed doors at the start of this week. Now things have moved a step further forward, with racing being cancelled until the end of April.

This covers a large number of meetings, including the Grand National and Scottish Grand National over obstacles. The start of the flat season was due to take place at the end of March, with the Lincoln Handicap at Doncaster. We will also miss out on the key Guineas trials such as the Craven and Nell Gwyn at Newmarket, which will put a big dent into the plans that trainers have been making for the start of the flat season.

Bookmakers Still Open to Offer What They Can

If you are looking to place a bet on something then the good news is that the bookmakers are still open and taking bets. Options are of course limited, but one sport currently running that will interest many people is greyhound racing. This gives racing fans a sport to bet on if they wish, with some bookmakers live streaming the meetings so you can watch.

There is also an extensive range of virtual sports available and casino services if you would like to try those out. The expectation is that these will be promoted more than normal, so look out for offers if you want to get involved.
