Six Nations Championship: Best Betting Sites and Betting Selections

Six Nations Championship: Best Betting Sites and Betting Selections

In a busy year for sport, the big Rugby Union highlight arrives as winter turns to spring, with the annual edition of the Six Nations Championship. First held as the Home Nations Championship in 1883, this historic competition is the oldest international rugby competition of them all. France joined the party in 1910, with Italy’s arrival in 2000 rounding out the current format.

Having lifted the trophy in 2025, France are favourites to defend their crown. However, they face stiff competition from an England outfit who head into the tournament on an eleven-match winning streak. Struggling Wales look up against it, while improving Italy should at least be competitive. Scotland are tougher to predict, but will, as ever, be up for the fight in their Calcutta Cup clash with England.

Here, using information presented by NewBettingSites.uk, we highlight a selection of welcome offers ahead of the event and pick out our best bet for each of the six nations.

Six Nations Format

Kicking off on a Thursday for the first time and held over six weeks rather than the traditional seven, the tournament has undergone a couple of tweaks, but otherwise the format remains the same. The six sides meet in a round-robin format, playing a total of five games apiece, with points available as follows.

  • Four points for a win
  • Two points for a draw
  • One bonus point for teams losing by seven points or less
  • One bonus point for teams scoring four or more tries

Six Nations: Best Bet for Each Nation

Should the tournament play out as the odds suggest, all roads lead to a titanic showdown at the Parc des Princes, as France host England with the title potentially on the line. However, there’s a long way to go before that clash on 14 March, and things don’t always play out as expected. We conclude with our best bets for each of the sides.

France – To Win Grand Slam @ 6/4 with BetMGM

France and England are rightly vying for favouritism in the outright winner markets. Overall, we agree with France’s status as market leaders. With three home games to England’s two, and crucially hosting England in the final matchup, the defending champions are the most likely winners. Rather than take the odds-on prices to win the tournament, side with Les Bleus to win the Grand Slam. With Adrien Dupont fit and firing once more and home advantage over their two biggest rivals (England and Ireland), France can complete a clean sweep.

England – To win Triple Crown @ 8/11 with BetMGM

Mastering France on their own patch may prove a step too far, but England should have more than enough to conquer Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. Of the eleven games won by Brian Borthwick's men during their latest winning streak, ten came against top 10 opponents. Well-suited by the recent rule changes, expect England to shine in the kicking game. Blessed with the all-round deepest squad, they are well suited to the rigours of five games in a short period and can fare best of the home nations.

Ireland – Dan Sheehan Top Irish Try Scorer @ 13/8 with Spreadex

Ireland remains the side most likely to upset the two market leaders and are a match for anyone on their day. However, they head into the tournament with injuries at key positions – most notably flying winger Mack Hansen. In Hansen's absence, Dan Sheehan is a rock-solid option to score the most tries for Ireland. The Irish have weaponised the hooker role like no other nation, and in Sheehan, they have a player with elite pace for his position, an ability to spot gaps, and excellent timing when breaking off the maul.

Scotland – Scotland to Finish Fifth @ 6/1 with Spreadex

Ranked ninth in the world, Scotland are the fourth-best side in the tournament. However, there isn’t that much in it, with Italy ranked tenth and Wales eleventh. The Scots also face tough fixtures, with their two home games coming against England and France. Only beating Wales by six points at Murrayfield in March, they may find it tougher in Cardiff and haven’t always been reliable on their trips to Rome. They will probably win at least one of those games but look overpriced to finish fifth in the standings.

Wales – Wales to Finish Fourth @ 8/1 with Spreadex

There is no getting away from the fact that Wales are a side in turmoil, with the domestic game in decline and a falling global ranking. With that in mind, it is hard to argue with their status as favourites to pick up the wooden spoon. That said, one win and a couple of close defeats may be enough to avoid that ignominy, and while inconsistent, Wales do possess quality in the ranks. With home games against Scotland and Italy, they are worth a small bet to outperform market expectations.

Italy – Juan Ignacio Brex, Top Italy Try Scorer each way @ 16/1 with Spreadex

Our earlier picks suggest that we think Italy are the most likely to prop up the table. While true, we don’t rate them as a solid betting option to finish bottom at around 13/10. The bet to stand out here is an each-way punt on outside centre Juan Ignacio Brex to finish as Italy’s top try scorer. While not prolific, the experienced Brex scored two tries at the 2025 Six Nations. With Italy unlikely to run riot, a repeat of that effort may be enough to at least secure an each-way payout. As short as 5/1 elsewhere, the 16/1 available with Spreadex is worth taking.
