Premier League: Squad Value League Table

There are many ways to analyse the new Premier League campaign. How did the sides fare last season? What do the xG numbers suggest? How big an impact are managerial changes and new signings likely to have?

Or how about simply using the values of the playing squads to identify potentially profitable betting opportunities? Whilst not a perfect guide, there is invariably a strong relationship between squad value and finishing position.

Here, using data NewBettingSites.uk, we take a look at the squad value league table and pick out our best bets for the 2025/26 campaign.

Squad Value Premier League Table

Of the five £1bn+ squads in the global game, three are based in the Premier League. Arsenal lead the way in England with a value of £1.14bn, just pipping Manchester City to top spot. Arsenal’s value may increase if, as expected, Ebereche Eze arrives, while Liverpool could jump to third if the Alexander Isak saga ends with the Swedish hitman making the switch to Anfield.

No real surprises at the bottom end of the squad value table, with the three promoted sides bringing up the rear. The fact that the combined value of the Wolves, Leeds, Sunderland, and Burnley squads is less than that of Arsenal or Manchester City illustrates the gulf that now exists between the top and bottom sides in the English top flight.

Premier League Winner

To identify potential betting opportunities, we are looking for differences between the squad value ranking and betting odds ranking of the teams. With favourites Liverpool only fourth in the squad value list, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea are potential betting options in the outright winner and top two finish markets.

Having finished second in each of the past three seasons, Arsenal are a more settled outfit than new-look Manchester City or transfer-crazy Chelsea. Topping the squad value table, the Gunners look like a fair bet to go one better.

However, we are reluctant to leave Manchester City out entirely given Pep Guardiola’s phenomenal record. Even money for a top two finish looks perfectly fair about a side that has won six of the past eight editions of the Premier League.

European Positions

The established big six occupy the top six positions both in the squad value and betting odds rankings. As such, finding value using the squad value system isn’t so straightforward. However, with Manchester United and Spurs in a period of transition, it may be worth looking a little further down the list.

The first side to stand out is Brighton & Hove Albion. The Seagulls sit eighth in the squad value table, but only tenth in the betting odds ranking. Only five points off the top 6 in Fabian Hürzeler’s first season in charge, the south coast club are worth backing to improve on that effort in 2025/26.

Relegation

None of the six most recent promoted sides have managed to survive. The betting suggests that trend may continue in 2025/26. At a best price of 2/7, Burnley are red-hot favourites to go down. Odds of Even Money for the Turf Moor club to finish rock bottom are worth taking.

Sunderland are also odds on to make an immediate return despite that positive start against West Ham. Leeds, however, are 9/4 to go down, which, given the squad value rankings and recent history of promoted sides, looks a little too big.
