While some people will choose to do many other things on Christmas Day, there may be some people looking for sport to keep entertained on the day. The good news is that there are sports which traditionally take place on Christmas Day, and these will once again be taking place in 2020.

NFL

The NFL regularly has games played on Christmas Day and this year is no exception. These will be games in week 16 of the NFL season, with big playoff implications attached, so will certainly be good to watch.

There are two games taking place on Christmas Day into the night and the early hours of Boxing Day morning. They feature two teams hunting for a Super Bowl, and two trying to get into the playoffs in the final moments of the season.

NBA

The NBA is another big league in the US and is also another league to offer traditional Christmas Day games, and again, these will take place this season. Heading out to sport is a big part of Christmas for some Americans, and the NBA offers five games for people to enjoy, with three of them being at UK friendly times when people will still be awake.

The five games begin with an early game between the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks, which is followed by the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks. These are the earliest two games to start, and follow on from each other back to back, so will no doubt attract the most interest from fans in the UK who are looking to watch something.

The final sport you can bet on this Christmas is cricket, with the traditional Australian Boxing Day Test match taking place, and this year, England are their opponents, as part of The Ashes. This is a Test that officially starts on Boxing day in Australia, but given the time difference, the action starts late at night on Christmas Day in the UK.
