Betting Industry Could be at the Forefront of Rebuilding UK Economy

There is no doubt that the UK economy is facing a challenging time. Eventually, we will come out of the current Coronavirus pandemic and rebuild our lives and businesses. This will take time, and each sector will have to help in different ways.

One of the first to help looks set to be the betting industry, which could begin to help as early as next month. As things stand now, there is very little sports betting taking place, with only the odd live events happening and virtual sports available.

However, that looks to be coming to an end, and May looks as though it could be the month where plans are made for sports to return. We won’t get everything back, but we should have a far better picture about what the future holds in May, and for those hoping to get sports back soon, things could look promising.

Gamblers Ready for the Return of Action

When sport does come back, there is no doubt that there is a thirst for action. Most people won’t have had a bet for weeks and will be looking forward to placing a wager at some point in the near future.

We have many reports at the moment coming out, none of which are set in stone. This could involve football being on free to air television, horse racing live on terrestrial TV, golf events taking place and much more.

With people being at home for the foreseeable future, a larger than normal group of people could be watching sport when it happens. If games are on free to air television, then the potential audience goes up.

Whenever you are talking about sporting audiences, you have to mention potential gamblers. There is no doubt that if the games are on, people will bet. The more that watch, the more people will bet on them.

What Could be Available to Bet on in May and June?

Some European football leagues have started training, the first of those back looks set to be the Bundesliga. Spain and Italy are looking to follow them, and if the FA and UK government give the Premier League the go-ahead, we are likely to see that return at the start of June.

These leagues are all strongly covered on TV in the UK, with the potential for more to be added too, especially when it comes to Premier League games. We currently see four or five games on TV, with all 10 behind closed doors each week, there is at least five up for grabs that could be shown.

Horse racing could return and be regionalised, with selected courses holding consecutive days of racing to prevent travel for owners and trainers. The courses selected are those with on-site hotels, allowing people to stay there and participate.

Lastly, golf appears to be close to a return. Players would play alone and social distancing is relatively easy with a sport like this, which is only going to aid its return.

Whatever sport you like, anything is better than what we have at the moment and it looks as though the light can be seen at the end of the tunnel.
