World Cup Quarter Finals Preview and Betting Offers

Quarter finals list WC

The World Cup has now reached the quarter final stage, meaning just eight teams are left in the competition. Right now, every single one of them will fancy their chances of lifting the trophy, and that should lead to four fantastic games this weekend when the quarter finals take place on Friday and Saturday. Here is a look at the four games coming for football fans this weekend.

Uruguay vs France

This should be the first of two great games on Friday, and both of these teams appear to be working up towards playing their best football. Both started off playing a little below par, but we have seen improvement in them recently, with Uruguay dispatching of Portugal in the last round, and France winning a thriller against Argentina.

This game should be very tight, both teams have match winners in their ranks, but France just have the edge for me, but it should be a great game for neutrals to watch.

Brazil vs Belgium

This one is probably the best quarter final from the four games taking place, and it should round off what is set to be a thrilling day of football on Friday. I think we can expect goals here, both teams love nothing more than to play an attractive, expansive style of football, so both should be attacking from the off.

Just like the first game on Friday, I expect this to be close, but a thriller for the neutrals to watch at the same time, and I just give the edge to Brazil, who look like they are still improving.

Sweden vs England

All eyes will be on the English on Saturday when they take on Sweden. England look to be the better team here and one thing that will work in their favour is that Sweden don’t appear to create many chances. We haven’t seen England keep a clean sheet yet, but they have come close and this looks like it could be their day to do it, while nicking a goal at the other end.

England can make the semi-finals here by beating Sweden on Saturday afternoon.

Russia vs Croatia

The hosts Russia are still in the tournament, much to the surprise of many people. Croatia have been very good so far, although were sub-par when playing Denmark in their last 16 game. They will have to be better here to beat Russia, who will have the weight of their home nation pushing them on to what would be another unlikely victory.

If Croatia play as they can, I think they will win this game easy, but Russia will be waiting to take advantage of any slip ups. Having said that, Croatia are still the bet for me.

Betting Odds

The four favourites are going to be popular with punters this weekend. Starting off with France at evens and Brazil at 11/10, that is sure to be a popular double for Friday punters. On Saturday, England at 10/11 and Croatia at 6/5 are also going to be popular, with England fans looking for another selection to double up their team with.

If it is value you are looking for, Uruguay at 10/3 look to be overpriced, there is little to choose between them and France based on what we have seen so far.
