Why 80/1 Tottenham Hotspur are better than Arsenal this season
Spurs are unbeatable in the Premier League, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side having now gone eleven games without defeat since that unlucky 1-0 reverse at Old Trafford in their opening game.
The Tottenham manager has finally got a squad of his own making, with Dele Alli having shone since returning back from MK Dons in the summer, while Harry Kane is proving he is no longer a one-season wonder as the goals start to flow again.
Jan Vertonghen is thriving as a centre-half alongside the excellent Toby Alderweireld and there is little reason why Tottenham can’t challenge for the Premier League title this season, even at odds of 80/1.
After all, they completely dominated the first-half of the north London derby on Sunday, going a goal ahead at the Emirates and showing little sign of fatigue despite previous matches against Aston Villa and Anderlecht that week.
Spurs have home matches against West Ham and Chelsea on the horizon, with victories in both London derbies set to announce them as genuine title contenders, with the gap only five points between them and Manchester City / Arsenal.
Perhaps Pochettino is a touch short in attack where there is an over-reliance on Kane to plunder goals, although Christian Eriksen and Mousa Dembele are both dangerous from attacking midfield positions.
Son Heung-Min could also continue to emerge as a relative bargain, with the South Korean having been limited to cameo performances since returning from injury, although there is no reason why Tottenham can’t finish above Arsenal and challenge for the title.
