UK General Election Betting Preview & Offers
The UK will have a general election on Thursday 12th December, with members of the public heading to the polls to decide which political party will lead us forward in the future. The election has been brought about early due to the ongoing problems with Brexit, and that will play a major part in both how people vote, and how many people vote, with some dubbing it a ‘Brexit Election’ due to this.
What Will the Election Decide?
The election has been called by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in an attempt to give himself and the Conservative Party a majority in the house of commons. This will allow them to push through the Brexit deal that Johnson has negotiated and take the UK out of the EU.
It looks very unlikely that another party will be able to claim a majority when the election takes place, meaning the only other possibility is a hung parliament, with either the Conservatives pushing forward with a minority government or a collective of opposition parties coming together to form a coalition to take over.
What are the Polls Saying?
The polls are predicting that the Conservatives will claim a victory with the most seats going their way, although it looks to be balanced on a knife edge as to whether they will claim a majority or not. Recent polls suggest they have a lead of anywhere between six and 10 points at the moment, although there is still a week to go and we have to be cautious as polls have been wrong for both the last election and the Brexit vote.
A Conservative majority would be won on roughly an eight-point lead, right in the middle of where the polling companies are predicting them to be at this stage.
