Premier League betting tips – 24/25 October

Manchester United v Manchester City, Sunday 4.15 pm

There’s little between the two Manchester teams these days, with City having recently overtaken their rivals although it appears United are coming back strong under Louis van Gaal.

The Red Devils were impressive winners at Goodison Park last weekend and aren’t in the habit of losing at Old Trafford, while the visitors are creaking at the back and the best bet here could be backing a home win and both teams to score.

After all, both sides will be going for the win and City come into the game off the back of a 6-1 triumph against Bournemouth which saw Raheem Sterling score a hat-trick in the first half.

BETTING TIP: Manchester United win and both teams score @ 7/2 with Paddy Power

Sunderland v Newcastle United, Sunday midday

Expect blood and thunder in this Tyne-Wear derby where the stakes are particularly high for a Sunderland team propping up the table right now.

Sam Allardyce was aggrieved to see the Black Cats lose at West Brom in his first game and will be confident his team can out-battle a Newcastle team that might have scored six against Norwich but also shipped two more goals.

The derby winner is often the team who can roll their sleeves up and grind out a result and Allardyce is the master of this. We quite fancy Sunderland to get their first win and shut out their enemies at the same time.

Arsenal v Everton, Saturday 5.30 pm

The Gunners are hot favourites to win Saturday’s match, with Arsene Wenger’s side coming into this match after Tuesday’s clash with Bayern Munich and the London side are 4/9 to land the three points.

Alexis Sanchez has been in red-hot scoring form and the Chilean could cause Everton problems, with the Toffees going down 3-0 against Manchester United last weekend and looking to bounce back in this match.

Will Roberto Martinez adopt a defensive approach? Perhaps, although this Arsenal team are pretty solid at the back themselves, as could be seen from consecutive 3-0 wins over Watford and Manchester United. We expect this match to follow a similar path.

Liverpool v Southampton, Sunday 4.15pm

Even money on a Liverpool team who have won just three of their nine Premier League games this season? Perhaps not, with Jurgen Klopp’s presence as manager forcing the bookies to price up the Reds shorter than they need to be.

Southampton arrive with an unbeaten record away from home, having won 3-1 at Chelsea after draws against Newcastle, Watford and West Brom. They were unlucky in this fixture last season when losing 2-1 although their attacking players can cause Liverpool problems.

Perhaps Klopp will get things right at Liverpool but he doesn’t have the personnel to start winning games regularly right now and the Saints have to be taken on the Double Chance market.
