Are Chelsea actually going to be relegated this season?

Chelsea’s blip is suddenly threatening to become something far more sinister, with Jose Mourinho seemingly unable to arrest a string of poor results this season as Stoke became the latest team to beat the Blues.

Chelsea have lost seven of their twelve Premier League matches this season, with the team collecting just eleven points so far and that means the London side continue to hover above the relegation zone.

The bookies aren’t yet ready to consider them as candidates for the drop but why not? While it would represent a remarkable fall from grace for the champions to be relegated, it seems that Chelsea have forgotten to win football matches.

A home match against Norwich on 21 November will no doubt be billed as an opportunity for Mourinho’s men to get back to winning ways, although this was the case against Liverpool in their previous home match.

The Canaries will be all too aware that Chelsea are rocking at the moment, while the Blues then head to White Hart Lane to meet a Tottenham side who haven’t tasted defeat since the opening game of the season.

Even if Chelsea do manage to avoid the drop this season, it appears as though a top four finish looks out of the question, with odds of 4/1 now on offer that the London side qualify for the Champions League next term.

Paddy Power offer 4/5 that they make the top six this season, although the Chelsea players are wobbling badly right now and any Premier League team facing them will be confident of getting a positive result.
