2019 Cheltenham Festival Betting Odds, Runners and TV Schedule

The 2019 Cheltenham Festival is less than a week away, and it is a week that brings together horse racing fans from all over the world, all with the aim of finding a winner or two. The festival is the holy grail of national hunt racing, and on each of the four days, we will see the very best of the best taking each other on over a variety of distances.

Schedule and TV Coverage

The festival runs for four days, starting on Tuesday 12th March and running until Friday 15th March. There are seven races each day, giving us a total of 35 events to look forward to.

Things are kept the same every day, which allows punters to know what times to look out for. The first race is at 1:30 pm, while the last race of the day will begin at 5:30 pm. The feature race of each day will be the fourth race on the card, and that will start at 3:30 pm.

ITV is the place to be for terrestrial tv coverage of the Cheltenham Festival, with the first five races shown on each of the four days. For those wanting more, Racing UK is a subscription tv channel and they hold the rights to show every race from Cheltenham.

Feature Race Runners

On day one of the festival, the feature race is the Champion Hurdle and this is being billed as a clash between the defending champion Buveur D’Air and the Irish mare Apple’s Jade. Should either one of this two win then expect the roof to come off of Cheltenham on day one.

Day two is all about Altior in the Queen Mother Champion Chase, who just like his stablemate Buveur D’Air is coming back to try and defend his crown. There isn’t a horse been able to touch him over two miles yet, and he comes into the festival looking to win his 17th race in a row.

On day three we are hoping a new star emerges in the Stayers Hurdle in the shape of Paisley Park. The youngster is four out of four so far this season, but can he do it on the biggest stage of them all or will the 11-year-old Faugheen bring back memories of his Champion Hurdle win with one last Cheltenham hurrah?

The feature of the entire meeting comes on day four in the shape of the Gold Cup. Native River saw off Might Bite in a thriller last season, and the pair will clash again in 2019. However, two new young pretenders are also in the mix, with King George winner Clan Des Obeaux and last year’s RSA winner Presenting Percy making up what is sure to be a fantastic battle.

Cheltenham Festival Betting Odds

The bookmakers are struggling to split Apple’s Jade and Buveur D’Air on day one, and have them both priced up at 9/4 right now. On day two, Altior is much shorter and his price of 4/9 shows why many see him as the banker of the week.

In the Stayers Hurdle, Paisley Park is 7/4 to win his fifth race in a row, while Faugheen would be a hugely popular winner and is available at 9/2.

The big one looks wide open, with Clan Des Obeaux at 4/1 and Presenting Percy at 9/2 heading the market. They are ahead of the current champion Native River who is 11/2, while the second from last year Might Bite is far bigger at 14/1.
